ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My paintings begin with accumulation. Fragments of drawing, collage, paint, texture, and geometric structure are layered, revised, obscured, and rediscovered over time. The resulting compositions operate as visual fields in which signals, interruptions, and connections emerge through a process of continual adjustment.

Much of my work explores the relationship between order and improvisation. Geometric frameworks provide an underlying structure, while intuitive gestures, shifts in color, and unexpected forms introduce uncertainty and change. I am interested in the way meaning develops through these interactions, much as memory, language, and experience are assembled from incomplete and evolving pieces.

My background as an illustrator continues to inform my approach. Years spent solving visual problems through drawing and composition have shaped my sensitivity to rhythm, balance, and visual communication. In the studio, however, I am less interested in delivering a fixed message than in creating spaces for discovery. Each painting becomes a record of decisions, revisions, and conversations between intention and chance.

The work reflects an ongoing fascination with how information is transmitted, transformed, and perceived. Through layers of marks and shifting relationships, the paintings invite viewers to navigate their own pathways through the image, finding patterns, associations, and moments of recognition within an evolving visual landscape.
